International Symposium on Climate Change and Health

In conjunction with the 200-year anniversary celebration of Karolinska Institutet there will be an international symposium on climate change and health Pdf, 114.6 kB..

Climate Change and Health is a rapidly expanding research field. This symposium aims at giving the scientific basis and state-of-the-art knowledge on climate-related health research, and will discuss current research challenges and opportunities. Two of the world´s leading scientists and pioneers in the field of Climate Change and Health research will be keynote speakers: Professor Tony McMichael, The Australian National University, and Sir Andy Haines, professor and director of the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

The symposium will address the following topics:

  • The scientific basis for climate change
  • Health effects related to climate change
  • Specific research areas linked to climate change - air quality and health - extreme temperatures and health - infectious diseases

Number of participants is limited. The symposium is primarily aimd at active researchers at Karolinska Institutet, however, researchers from other Universities are also welcome to participate.
